Used Jukeboxes
At PINBALL UNIVERSE, you’ll find a selection of used jukeboxes and music boxes for anyone who wants to bring the unique look and sound of a jukebox into their home, game room, or commercial space. Our selection of used units changes regularly and may include various manufacturers, models, and styles. Before we list a used jukebox for sale, we inspect the unit and describe its condition as transparently as possible. Depending on availability, you’ll find here, among other items, used Rock-Ola jukeboxes as well as other music boxes featuring CD or vinyl technology. Since these are used, one-of-a-kind units, the model, year of manufacture, features, and cosmetic condition may vary from unit to unit.
If you’d like to buy a used jukebox and have questions about a specific model, its technology, or its condition, we’d be happy to advise you personally. Alternatively, at PINBALL UNIVERSE you’ll also find a large selection of new jukeboxes from current manufacturers.
Buy a Used Jukebox – Technology, Character and Music with a History
A used jukebox has a character all of its own. It combines music and distinctive design with a history that may stretch back many years. Buying a pre-owned jukebox can also be an attractive alternative to purchasing a new machine, particularly if you are looking for a specific model, an older version or simply a jukebox with its own individual character.
If you are looking to buy a used jukebox, however, there is more to consider than with many other second-hand products. Depending on its design, a jukebox contains numerous mechanical, electrical and electronic components. Vinyl and CD jukeboxes also incorporate complex mechanisms responsible for selecting, transporting and playing the respective music format.
The age of a used jukebox alone therefore tells you very little about its actual quality. Its technical and cosmetic condition, together with the way the machine has been used and maintained over the years, are much more important.
Used Vinyl and CD Jukeboxes – Every Machine Is Different
Our selection of used jukeboxes for sale changes regularly. Unlike new machines, pre-owned jukeboxes cannot simply be reordered from the manufacturer. Every machine is an individual item with its own specification, condition and history.
Depending on availability, our range may include used Rock-Ola jukeboxes as well as machines from other manufacturers and different generations.
Both used vinyl jukeboxes and used CD jukeboxes may become available. Which system is the better choice depends primarily on your personal preferences and existing music collection.
With a vinyl jukebox, the mechanism itself is an important part of the experience. A record is selected, moved into position and played – and for many owners, watching this mechanical process is one of the defining attractions of owning a genuine jukebox.
A used CD jukebox, on the other hand, can provide space for a larger music selection directly inside the machine. The selection mechanism and operation remain part of the characteristic jukebox experience.
As the age, model and technical specification can vary considerably, every used jukebox should be considered individually.
What Should You Look for When Buying a Used Jukebox?
Cosmetic condition is naturally important. After all, a jukebox is not only a music system but also an exceptional piece of interior design. The cabinet, chrome parts, plastics, lighting and visible signs of previous use can all have a significant effect on its overall appearance.
The technical condition, however, is at least as important.
Depending on the model, a jukebox may contain a combination of mechanical assemblies, motors, switches, drives and electronic components that all need to operate correctly together. Older machines may also show age-related wear in various areas.
A jukebox that looks beautiful on the outside is therefore not automatically in equally good technical condition. Equally, a machine with visible signs of use may still operate extremely well.
This is why photographs alone should not determine your decision when buying a pre-owned jukebox. It is worth considering the technical condition, visible wear, work that has already been carried out and any particular characteristics of the individual machine.
At PINBALL UNIVERSE, we aim to describe the condition of our used jukeboxes as transparently as possible. If you would like further information about a particular machine, simply contact us and we will be happy to provide additional details.
Buy a Used Jukebox from a Specialist Dealer with Its Own Workshop
Technical expertise becomes particularly important when dealing with older jukeboxes.
PINBALL UNIVERSE has its own specialist workshop for jukeboxes and pinball machines. This means we do not simply sell machines – we also work with and understand the technology behind them.
Our used jukeboxes are checked before being offered for sale. The amount of technical work required for an individual machine always depends on its particular model, age and condition.
This is an important difference compared with buying a jukebox privately. Faults and wear cannot always be identified by simply looking at the cabinet. Many important components are located inside the machine, and their actual condition may only become apparent during operation.
For this reason, whenever possible, it is worth not only looking at a used jukebox but also seeing it operate and listening to it play before making your decision.
See and Listen to a Used Jukebox Before Buying
Buying a jukebox is not an everyday purchase – and this is even more relevant when considering a used machine.
If the jukebox you are interested in is on display with us, you can visit us in Bünde to see the machine in person and get a better impression of its condition, operation and sound.
This can be particularly valuable because many aspects of a pre-owned jukebox are difficult to judge online. Photographs can document its cosmetic condition, but they cannot reproduce the actual sound or demonstrate how the mechanical components operate together.
Our dedicated JUKEBOX STUDIO in Bünde, Germany, covers approximately 200 m² and focuses on jukeboxes and different music systems. It also gives you the opportunity to experience just how much jukeboxes can differ in size, design and sound.
If you are deciding between a new and a used jukebox, seeing different machines in person can also make it much easier to determine which option best suits your expectations.
Used or New Jukebox – Which Is the Better Choice?
There is no single answer that applies to everyone.
A new jukebox offers current technology, a defined new condition and, depending on the model, different choices of specification and music system. If you are specifically interested in a current Sound Leisure or Rock-Ola jukebox, PINBALL UNIVERSE offers an extensive selection of new machines.
A used jukebox, however, often has a character of its own. Depending on current availability, the second-hand market can provide access to models that are no longer manufactured or machines from earlier generations.
The important question is therefore not whether “new” or “used” is fundamentally better. What matters is which jukebox best suits you, your music and the way you want to enjoy it.
For some buyers, a brand-new vinyl jukebox is exactly what they are looking for. Others may have been searching for years for a particular used Rock-Ola or a specific CD jukebox they remember from the past.
Both have their own appeal.
Used Jukeboxes Are Individual Machines
If you are looking for a particular used model, it is important to remember that our stock changes regularly. A used jukebox is normally available only once. Once that particular machine has been sold, an identical example cannot simply be reordered from the manufacturer.
At the same time, other used jukeboxes regularly become available.
If you are looking for a particular used jukebox that is not currently listed in our online shop, you are welcome to contact us. A suitable machine may already be on its way to us, or we may be able to provide further information about current or upcoming availability.
If you are not specifically looking for an older or pre-owned model, it is also worth exploring our selection of new jukeboxes from Sound Leisure and Rock-Ola.
Whether new or used, a jukebox remains an extraordinary way to experience music.
And a used jukebox has something that no factory-new machine can reproduce: a history of its own.
What should I look for when buying a used jukebox?
The technical condition is just as important as the appearance. Depending on the model, a jukebox combines mechanical, electrical and electronic components. Check the music selection and playing mechanism, lighting, controls and sound as well as any visible signs of wear. With older jukeboxes, the actual condition of the machine is usually more important than its age alone.
Are used jukeboxes checked by PINBALL UNIVERSE before they are sold?
Yes. Our used jukeboxes are checked before being offered for sale. The amount of technical work required depends on the individual model, age and condition. PINBALL UNIVERSE has its own specialist workshop for jukeboxes and pinball machines, allowing us to assess and carry out necessary technical work professionally.
Can I see and listen to a used jukebox before buying it?
Yes, provided the machine is on site and available for viewing. With a used jukebox, we particularly recommend seeing its condition, operation, mechanism and hearing its sound in person whenever possible. At our JUKEBOX STUDIO in Bünde, Germany, you can also experience different jukeboxes and music systems for yourself.
Is an older jukebox automatically worse than a newer one?
No. Age alone says very little about the quality of a used jukebox. Its technical and cosmetic condition, previous use, maintenance history and any repairs already carried out are much more important. A well-maintained older jukebox can therefore be a better choice than a newer machine in poor condition.
Are used vinyl and CD jukeboxes available?
Yes. Depending on our current stock, we may offer both used vinyl jukeboxes and used CD jukeboxes. The manufacturers, models and music systems available change regularly because pre-owned jukeboxes are individual machines and cannot simply be reordered once they have been sold.
What if the used jukebox I am looking for is not currently available?
Please contact us. Our stock of used jukeboxes changes regularly and individual machines are not permanently available. The model you are looking for may already be on its way to us, or we may be able to provide information about jukeboxes that are currently or soon to be available.
Can a used jukebox be delivered to my home?
Yes, depending on the destination and available delivery options. Jukeboxes can be large, heavy and sensitive machines, so transportation needs to be planned accordingly. Please let us know before purchasing if there are stairs, narrow doorways or other access restrictions on the way to the intended installation location.
Can PINBALL UNIVERSE service or repair my jukebox in the future?
Yes. PINBALL UNIVERSE has its own specialist workshop for jukeboxes and pinball machines, giving you an experienced point of contact for technical questions, maintenance and repairs after your purchase. The work and replacement parts available for an older jukebox will depend on its manufacturer, model and technical condition.
